DON’T HAVE A COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE?

Don’t worry! Greenlink now offers in-house training with the “Bus Operator in Training” position.

Applicants who don’t have a South Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will undergo training at the beginning of the program and will be required to obtain their Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) within 2 weeks of hire and their CDL within 8 weeks.

There’s no fee to participate in the CDL training, which would normally cost you over $2,000. And, while you’re actively enrolled in our Bus Operator in Training program, you’ll earn $19 an hour.

The program includes classroom and hands-on training and provides the skills and knowledge required to operate a public transit bus safely and independently. Trainees who complete the program will be promoted to Bus Operator.

Mechanics

Greenlink mechanics are vital for ensuring the buses and vehicles are in working order and can safely transport Greenlink passengers. Mechanics are responsible for performing repairs of vehicles and engines, maintaining all the equipment on the vehicles such as the radio and farebox, and conducting diagnostics.

Greenlink operates a mixed fleet of heavy-duty diesel engine buses, gasoline medium & light duty vehicles, and electric buses. Greenlink’s services operate Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Fleet Maintenance is the support backbone to ensure Greenlink is able to operate and provide essential transportation without issue. The Fleet Maintenance Garage is open during the entire service day and remains open after service ends to get all vehicles ready for the next day of service. The Garage operates from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. No maintenance staff needed for Sunday at this time.

Our technicians operate on two shifts. The morning shift approximately runs from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the evening shift is expected from 1:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Additionally, the evening shift team members rotate weekly to cover the late-night shift from 4:30 p.m. until bus washing is complete.
