According to the American Heart Association, 90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. Studies show that most Americans (70%) feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency.
As a result, the Greenville City Fire Department (GCFD) is working to raise awareness about the benefit of hands-only CPR and empowering citizens to help prevent unnecessary deaths and possibly save the life of a co-worker, spouse, parent or friend.
