The City of Greenville hired Urban Design Associates, an international urban design and architecture firm headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to conduct a community workshop and study on connectivity in the South Downtown area of Greenville. The workshop and study took place November 12-14, 2019, though the process is ongoing.
- Explore district-wide standards for key streets and trails
- Howe Street
- University Street
- Church Street
- Connect neighborhoods to Falls Park with dedicated multi-use trails and sidewalks
- Connect neighborhood streets where possible
- Improve pedestrian networks
- Identify missing links
- Expand trail linkages where possible
The South Downtown Master Plan study is currently underway. Identified in the 2019 Downtown Master Plan, the South Downtown area includes the Haynie-Sirrine neighborhood, and this planning effort will also serve as an update to the 2002 Haynie-Sirrine Neighborhood Master Plan.
- To create cohesive urban design standards to guide future development in the area generally bounded by Augusta Street and Church Street.
AREA OF STUDY
The study area includes the land south of University Ridge, as well as the neighborhoods flanking Augusta and Church Streets.
