Methods of Annexation
Annexation of property into the City of Greenville can be accomplished through various methods:
Individual Property Owner
An individual property owner may petition the city for annexation of a specific parcel(s) as long as the property is contiguous (touches) to the existing city limit line. A completed Annexation Petition (100%) (PDF), Annexation Application (PDF) must be submitted by the Filing Deadline. A draft annexation survey of the property submitted to the Economic Development Department 2 weeks prior to the Filing Deadline. Other Methods of Annexation
Where multiple property owners desire to annex a larger area, a petition may be made by:
- 75% of the individual property owners having title to 75% of the total assessed value of all the property in the designated annexation area and filing an Annexation Petition (75%) (PDF); or
- at least 25% of the qualified electors in the area desiring to be annexed can petition the city council to call for an election within the area proposed to be annexed.
