[ARCHIVED] Shooting incident on Butler Avenue and Pinckney Street

At approximately 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Butler Avenue and Pinckney Street in reference to a firearm being discharged in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located a white truck with what appeared to be projectile damage. Officers made contact with the white male driver, who was alert but appeared to have injuries. EMS arrived on scene and transported the subject to the nearest hospital. We would be later notified that the subject did not suffer a gunshot wound and the injuries sustained were from broken glass from the vehicle.
Early reports indicate two vehicles were in the area and began shooting at each other. The driver of the white truck was driving down Butler Avenue and was caught in the crossfire.

At this point, Greenville Police detectives are leading this active investigation. Officers canvassed the neighborhood in search of witnesses and evidence related to this case.

We believe at the time this occurred there were multiple motorists on Butler Avenue who may have been witnesses or who may have damage from the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Greenville Police Department at 864-271-5333 or Greenville Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME (27463).
