COVID-19 Update To meet social distancing requirements, beginning Thursday, April 2, Greenlink will limit capacity on all fixed-route buses to 10 passengers. This means that bus drivers must bypass bus stops if their bus is at maximum capacity and cannot allow customers to board until an existing passenger disembarks.
Customers are strongly encouraged to follow guidance from state and local officials to stay home and should use Greenlink for essential trips only. Essential trips include transportation to and from work, scheduled medical care appointments, grocery stores and pharmacies. Greenlink customers should not take public transportation if they are sick.
To maintain the 10-passenger limit, seats will be available on each trip on a first-come, first-served basis. Because there is no guarantee that passengers will be able to board, customers should start their trips early to ensure they have adequate time to reach their destination.
Additional safety precautions include:
- Rear door boarding only. Greenlink is operating with a “zero fare” policy, meaning customers will not be required to pay a fare to ride the bus. The intent is to minimize contact between drivers and customers. Eliminating fares also enables customers to get on and off the bus using the rear door, which enhances social distancing practices. Customers in wheelchairs, or those with mobility needs, will be allowed to board at the front door so they can use the bus ramp and access the disability seating at the front of the bus. The ADA seating area, which is located closest to the driver, will be reserved for wheelchair passengers only to increase the distance between customers and drivers.
- The buses are being disinfected four times a day (at 8:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, and 7:30pm) with a spray sanitizer.
- Drivers are wiping down their work station every two hours.
- Public hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed on every bus.
