Greenville Business Owners,
As we head into the holiday weekend, and some of the busiest shopping days of the year, we hope that you will be prosperous, but also mindful of the safety of your customers and employees.
COVID-19 cases are spiking, but the measures we all must take to stop the spread of the virus are the same: mask-wearing, social distancing and frequent cleaning.
While the City of Greenville has a strong mask ordinance that requires employees and customers to wear a face-covering inside all retail establishments, we are still receiving a concerning number of reports from citizens about a lack of compliance by local restaurants and retailers.
To date, the City has given out nearly 200,000 masks to businesses and over 50,000 masks to residents. We have awarded $250,000 in small business boost grants. And we have tripled the number of short-term parking spaces on Main Street between NOMA square and Augusta Street to facilitate carry-out and pick-up orders.
We are invested in your success and are committed to providing support; however, we must insist that everyone adheres to the law and the guidance provided by our public health officials. Consider limiting capacity, encourage social distance, clean often, and please, ensure that everyone inside your business wears a mask. You have a vital role in keeping our economy strong and our community healthy.
Thank you for your cooperation.
