Downtown Merchant Association - May Meeting DateThank you to everyone who was able to attend the April Downtown Merchant Association meeting this week. A sincere thank you to Jeff Waters, City of Greenville - Sr. Capital Project Manager, for joining us to share information about the Unity Park project and discussing the final weeks before the grand opening of the park on Thursday, May 19.
If you were unable to attend, you can view the April meeting notes at your convenience. Mark your calendars to join us next month Tuesday, May 17, at Greenville Drive's Fluor Field. We encourage you to invite a neighboring business located in the Central Business District to attend with you.

Road Closure: Greenville Greek Festival on May 13-15Road closure will take place from 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12 until Monday, May 16, during the Greenville Greek Festival. The road closure will be along Elford Street from Townes Street to N Academy Street.

E-Waste and Shredding Event - Saturday, May 14 The City of Greenville will be holding a Shredding & E-Waste Recycling event on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Public Works campus, located at 475 Fairforest Way. At this free event, citizens can dispose of unwanted electronics and have their sensitive documents destroyed and recycled securely. All paper to be shredded must be bagged or boxed, and each person is limited to three large trash bags or three small boxes of paper. Four shredding trucks will be onsite and paper will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until they are full. City residents and businesses can also drop off the following items for free during this special event: TVs, computer monitors, keyboards, mice, wires, circuit boards, CPUs, scanners and printers. There is a strict limit of 10 electronic items per person.

Unity Park Grand Opening - Thursday, May 19 Join us for the Grand Opening at Unity Park! The official grand opening of the park, including the playground and Greenville Water splash pad, is scheduled for Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m.
A park-wide CommUNITY day celebration will be held on Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

2022 More to Enjoy Sign ApplicationThe City of Greenville is continuing its More to Enjoy wayfinding program, which features newly-designed business directory signs at key Main Street intersections. The purpose of the program is to encourage downtown visitors to discover shops and restaurants located on side streets in the Central Business District by listing business names and providing directional arrows. The signs are designed to be eye-catching, while still incorporating seamlessly into the City’s overall downtown branding campaign.
Submit an application or apply for renewal by filling out the 2022 More to Enjoy application. Space on the signs are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. For questions or more information, please email Cameron Campbell at cjcampbell@greenvillesc.gov.

Fireworks on the Fourth Return to Greenville In celebration of Independence Day, a long-standing tradition will be brought back to the City of Greenville – Fireworks on the Fourth! We invite the community to join us at Unity Park on Monday, July 4 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for a spectacular fireworks show in our beautiful new 60-acre park.
Come early, bring a blanket and picnic dinner, and enjoy a memorable evening as we honor our great country. Please note this will not be a festival; alcohol will not be served and food sales will be limited. The event will be focused on the firework show and the enjoyment of our new 60-acre park downtown.

Swamp Rabbit Trail Detour Schedule for Sewer WorkFrom May through June, there will be a trail detour in place on either side of Cancer Survivors Park. Economic Development Strategic Plan: Public Survey for Residents and Business OwnersThe City is working with the consulting firm Resonance to create a long-term Economic Development Strategic Plan to identify key partnership opportunities and foster balanced growth. As the project team works to collect data and conduct an economic assessment, residents and business owners are asked to share their input via a public survey.
