One City Sound Returns on Saturday, July 9 One City Sound will return to One City Plaza on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays in July and August from 4 - 8 p.m. The event will highlight street performers and local musicians while enhancing the dining and shopping experience during peak hours in the One City plaza area.

Code Connection Session - Wednesday, July 13 The City is in the process of writing a new development code that will align with GVL2040 (the comprehensive plan) and address issues related to development across our community. The City is hosting monthly online Code Connection sessions where the project team will provide updates and answer community members' questions about the project. Join us for our next virtual session next Wednesday, July 13, at 5:00 p.m. The session presentation is called "Code Preview: Key Concepts in the New Development Code and How the Code will Work."

Pedestrian Safety Study Open House - Wednesday, July 13 The City needs your input! Join us to review the community response to the City's Pedestrian Safety Study and help us prioritize needs during a drop-in style open house on Wednesday, July 13, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Prisma Health Welcome Center in Unity Park.
City staff and project consultants will be onsite to share information about the study and engage with residents to answer questions and provide feedback.
The City partnered with Santec Consulting Services to study pedestrian safety and develop a plan that reduces the number of crashes and near misses involving pedestrians, particularly focusing on high-volume corridors and school zones. The study will provide the basis for prioritization and implementation of safety measures.

Corporate and Small Business Volunteer Opportunities Available at Fall for GreenvilleFall for Greenville is looking for corporate volunteer partners and small business partners to join together in making the 2022 festival weekend a success. With the Corporate Volunteer Program, partnering organizations will have the opportunity to volunteer in various positions throughout the three-day event, and in return, will receive a donation to the pre-selected 501c3 non-profit of their choosing. The Small Business Volunteer Program gives businesses the opportunity to register employees for volunteer positions while receiving recognition of their businesses support of the festival. In addition, groups will have the opportunity to volunteer in various locations together, providing a great outlet for employee team building.

Developing the Gateway to Greenville Initial concepts for a mixed-use project located at the site of the former Greenville Memorial Auditorium received unanimous approval from the City's Design Review Board (DRB). The Gateway Project includes 300 residential units, restaurant and commercial space, creative studios and a parking structure concealed by an elevated terrace. The project will return to the DRB for further review when architectural details are complete.

4-Pillar Approach to Addressing Homelessness in Greenville United Housing Connections (UHC)- a City of Greenville partner- is a 501c3 non-profit organization that connects people experiencing homelessness to safe, sustainable housing and support services. Lorain Crowl, CEO of United Housing Connections, and the UHC outreach team attended the June Downtown Merchant Association meeting to share updates on the impactful outreach and initiatives taking place in downtown Greenville to address homelessness.
UHC outlined the 4-Pillar Approach to Addressing Homelessness in Greenville which includes: Homeless Task Force Meetings, Outreach Programs, Panhandling Program and Day Shelter Program.
The virtual monthly Homeless Task Force meetings, held on the 2nd Monday of each month (via Zoom) is a great place for downtown merchants, service providers, City staff and Greenville Police Department representatives to join in an open forum. The meetings are designed to collaborate on solutions, voice concerns, address issues and provide education about current outreach initiatives. The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 11, at 8:30 a.m. We encourage and invite you to attend.

McDaniel Avenue Bridge Closure, Detours in PlaceThe McDaniel Avenue bridge replacement project began on Wednesday, July 6. The South Carolina Department of Transportation bridge replacement project is set to take approximately six months to complete. The McDaniel Avenue bridge will be closed, and the section of McDaniel Avenue between the bridge and Cleveland Street will be open to local traffic only. All other traffic will be routed around the closure. View the McDaniel Bridge Closure map to see road detours and the Swamp Rabbit Trail closures and detours. During this time, the City of Greenville will also replace the sewer main located underneath the bridge to increase capacity for the south downtown area. Swamp Rabbit Trail ReopenedThe section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail from Cancer Survivors Park to the Major Rudolph Anderson Memorial is open. The Furman College Way detour remains in place through October for County Square construction.

2022 More to Enjoy Sign ApplicationThe City of Greenville is continuing its More to Enjoy wayfinding program, which features newly-designed business directory signs at key Main Street intersections. The purpose of the program is to encourage downtown visitors to discover shops and restaurants located on side streets in the Central Business District by listing business names and providing directional arrows. The signs are designed to be eye-catching while still incorporating seamlessly into the City’s overall downtown branding campaign.
Submit an application or apply for renewal by filling out the 2022 More to Enjoy application. Space on the signs are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. For questions or more information, please email Cameron Campbell at cjcampbell@greenvillesc.gov.
