Downtown Merchant Association 2023

Thank you to everyone who has able to attend the January Downtown Merchant Association meeting. Special thank you to Beth Paul and the Bon Secours Wellness Arena team for hosting us and providing exciting updates at the year ahead. Additionally, we were thankful to hear information from the City of Greenville, GreenvilleCAN, and the Barbara Stone Foundation representatives, regarding a new downtown accessibility initiative.

Development Code Informational Sessions - January 25 and 26 

The new draft zoning map and development code will be available next week, January 25 -26, along with multiple opportunities to connect and see how the City is putting the GVL2040 plan into action. Join the City staff and consultants for coffee and one-on-one conversations to learn more about how Greenville will grow or drop-in during an Open House meeting to view concepts and provide feedback.

Making Greenville more accessible through AccessGVL  

Greenville will soon launch a new downtown accessibility initiative called Access GVL led by the City of Greenville, GreenvilleCAN, and the Barbara Stone Foundation. AccessGVL, a web-based app, is a resource guide designed to support and assist our disabled community on how best to enjoy and navigate downtown Greenville. The City of Greenville is currently evaluating and increasing the mapping capabilities to enhance navigating public spaces, such as sidewalks, parking garages, and plazas. 


We are looking for restaurants to join the first phase of the accessibility initiative. If you're a restaurant interested in learning more about the accessibility efforts taking place in downtown Greenville, please contact Mike Jank, City of Greenville Risk Manager and ADA Coordinator at mjank@greenvillesc.gov .

Road Closure: UCB Ice on Main Rink Removal

A road closure will take place on Friday, January 27, from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Main Street from Court Street to Broad Street to allow crews to remove the rink infrastructure. 

Sidewalk Closure: Main Street at W Washington Street

Story Construction Company LLC will be onsite for building maintenance at 1 N Main Street, Suite H, at BrickTop's through February 17. The road will remain open to vehicular traffic. Sidewalks in designated areas will be closed to pedestrian traffic, but detour routes will be posted with signage. Parking spaces may be blocked for maintenance equipment.

Cast your vote! Falls Park on the Reedy has been nominated for USA Today's 10 Best City Parks. Cast your vote, and help Greenville reach the top spot. 


Voting for our park is a great way to support our beloved City and show gratitude to the amazing Parks' staff who work tirelessly to maintain this beautiful public park in the heart of downtown. You can vote once per day until the polls close on Monday, February 6, at 12:00 p.m. The winner will be announced Friday, February 17. 

Greenville is listed among 52 Places to go in 2023

Greenville ranks among "52 Places to Go in 2023"

The New York Times listed Greenville among the "52 Places to Go in 2023" in the world. Coming in at #14, Greenville was highlighted for its creative and diverse culinary scene, outdoor adventures, and walkable downtown.
