iMAGINE Upstate Steam Festival Fueled by Fluor - Saturday, August 26

The iMAGINE Upstate STEAM Festival Fueled by Fluor will take place in downtown Greenville on Saturday, August 26. The festival will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Main Street between Court Street and Augusta St. For more information, visit iMAGINE Upstate.

Applications Open for the 2023 Citizens Fire Academy

The Greenville City Fire Department (GCFD) holds its annual Citizens Fire Academy in the fall. This free seven-week program is open to anyone age 18 and older. The Citizens Fire Academy offers a unique opportunity for citizens who live and work in Greenville to learn firsthand what it's like to be a firefighter. In addition to touring the City's fire stations and dispatch center, and meeting firefighters and 911 personnel, participants will also have a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, including wearing personal protective equipment, experiencing a fire simulation, extinguishing a fire and learning CPR and basic first aid. Downtown Merchant Association: August Meeting Recap

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the August Downtown Merchant Association meeting. We were grateful to have Ben McCarthy and George Davis from the Peace Center there to provide updates on the performance line-up, outreach and project developments taking place at the Peace Center. Also, special thank you to David Stone for hosting us at Swanson's Warehouse.

Corporate and Small Business Volunteer Opportunities Available for Fall for Greenville

Fall for Greenville is looking for corporate volunteer partners and small business partners to join together in making the 2023 festival weekend a success.

With the Corporate Volunteer Program, partnering organization will have the opportunities to volunteer in various positions throughout the three-day event and, in return, will receive a donation to the pre-selected 501c3 non-profit of their choosing.

The Small Business Volunteer Program gives businesses the opportunity to register employees for volunteer positions while receiving recognition of their businesses support of the festival. In addition, groups will have the opportunity to volunteer in various locations together, providing a great outlet for employee team building.

Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking community input!

In partnership with Clemson University, the City’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism (PRT) Department is embarking on a Strategic Plan process to define a clear vision and action plan for the future of the city’s parks and open space, trails and pathways, recreation facilities and programs, services and special events. The public is encouraged and invited to share their feedback through a survey. The public survey closes on Friday, September 22.

2023 More to Enjoy Sign Application

The City of Greenville is continuing its More to Enjoy wayfinding program, which features business directory signs at key Main Street intersections. The purpose of the program is to encourage downtown visitors to discover shops, restaurants and businesses located on side streets in the Central Business District. The signs are designed to be eye-catching while still incorporating seamlessly into the City's overall downtown branding campaign.

Submit an application or apply for renewals by filling out the 2023 More to Enjoy application. Space on the signs are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. For questions or more information, please email Cameron Campbell at cjcampbell@greenvillesc.gov.

Building Maintenance at 102 N Main Street

Over the next couple of months, SEBRG, LLL will be onsite for routine façade maintenance at 102 N Main Street. Work will include pressure washing, cornice repairs, and repainting. All roads, sidewalks and business access will be maintained. Due to the overhead work on the building, a scaffolding walkway will be installed to ensure business access and public safety is maintained. The project is expected to be completed by September 10.

Six More Police Officers to Keep Schools Safe | Greenville City Police will add six additional School Resource Officers to city schools this year, funded with a $1.5 million grant from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. The grant builds on the momentum created with the previous year's assignment of three new positions.
Prisma Health Builds New Facility at Unity Park | Prisma Health’s Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation (RCP) Hospital is working with community partners to create an initiative at Unity Park that will be focused on expanding community access to adaptive wellness and sports opportunities.
The location (159 Welborn Street) is anticipated to open in Fall 2024 and will begin with adaptive yoga classes and adaptive bicycle rentals at reduced or no cost depending on need.
